The Girls of Aviation Summer Camp
2-4 PM ET July 25-29, 2022

As a nonprofit serving the community, The Girls of Aviation is hosting a virtual summer camp showcasing successful women aviation professionals. We will also be teaching instrumentation and fundamentals of aircraft flying! At the end of the camp, there will be a group field trip to an aviation facility!

This is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded students, while also networking with extraordinary women professionals - all through a fun one-week camp! There is also a chance to earn volunteer hours through participation each day!

Topics Covered:

  • Instrumentation and flight controls in single-engine aircraft

  • The parts of a single-engine aircraft

  • The physics of flying airplanes

  • Skills learned during flight training

  • Landing a single-engine aircraft

Speakers:

  • Dr. Cynthia Schroll - First Lieutenant in the Air Force; Chemist Officer; Portfolio Manager; Deputy Branch Chief

  • Bobbi Wells - Former Vice President of Safety & Airworthiness, Air Operations of FedEx; currently Vice President of Safety Systems, Efficiency & Compliance of American Airlines; served as a Major in the US Army

  • Stefanie Lee - Flew the KC-135 in the Hawaii Air National Guard; in the Air Force Reserves; and current FedEx pilot

  • Ava Shaginaw - Former President of local Florida Institute of Technology WAI chapter; working towards her CFI certification

  • Molly Blackford -  Former president of local Florida Institute of Technology WAI chapter; Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
